Experiments used ultrasonic techniques to measure the dynamic modulus of continuous filaments of polvinyl alcohol. Important parameters were the speed and modulus of the ultrasonic waves. The experiments used the Dr. Steinkamp Ultrasonic Tester VP V to maintain Solvron-SX filaments in a continuous ultrasonic field during load and relaxation. Important variables were load and its effect on elasticity and deformation, the level of relaxation, and the humidity. further experiments immersed samples in acetone and reintroduced the samples to the ultrasonic field because ultrasonic waves propagate better in a humid environment. 3 refs.
