The following points are discussed: systems for the detection and elimination of foreign matter in the spinning mill (foreign matter detection in the blowroom and using electronic yarn monitoring systems); extraction of foreign matter with conventional blowroom equipment; effect of foreign matter removal in the blowroom on foreign fibre cuts in winding; effect of severe contamination on foreign matter removal efficiency in the blowroom and in winding; and basic considerations and operational concepts.
