Ceramic fibres for microfiltration

A method for making hollow ceramic membranes with small diameters and wall thicknesses has been developed by the Thuringian Institute for textiles and Plastic Research, by exploiting a novel manufacturing process, itself based on a spinning technique for making hollow fibres. The resulting membranes have a diameter of less than 1mm and a wall thickness of less than 100 microns.
