Application of enzymatic degradation in the utilization of textile wastes. Characteristics of biodegradation product and its practical application

This paper presents as assessment of the possibility of repeated use of polyester material obtained after the biodegradtion process of cellulose in wastes from fibrous polyester-cellulose blends. As a result of the enzymatic degradation of cellulose, the polyester component was isolated from the blend and studied with regard to its mechanical properties. The investigation proved that the biodegradation product in the form of polyester fibres is useful for recycling in the melt spinning process. The results presented may be used for elaborating a modern, ecological method of recycling wastes from fibrous polyester-cellulose blends.
