seal failure which occurs in phase penetration of an aggressive medium through the structure of a composite, and more precisely, through cracks formed in it, is the limit of working capacity of corrosion-resistant fiber glass plastics (cfgp). the state of the interface between the glass fibers and polymer matrix in these composites plays a significant role. in view of the number of theories which explain the mechanism of the interaction on the interface and their contradictory nature, the authors studied the effect of modification of glass fibers with finishes on the working capacity of cfgp. the character of application of the finish to the fiber and their physicochemical reaction was studied with electron microscopic methods. the role of the chemical reaction of the finishes with the glass fiber and polymer matrix as a factor which affects the working capacity of fiber glass plastics was determined
