surface mounting of components onto printed circuit boards is an outgrowth of the surface mounting of components onto a ceramic substrate used in the manufacturing of hybrid assemblies. the need for this technology became necessary due to the requirements of fabricating printed circuit boards and systems in denser packages various sources have reduced the overall packaging of printed circuit boards by a factor of four to one (4'1). the results of this new technology have demonstrated an urgent need for new assembly techniques, repair techniques, handling and the requirement for a new process of thought. the purpose is to highlight the repair techniques and associated aspects of repairing surface mounted assemblies
