the efficiency of ion beam sputter fabricated indium tin oxide on polycrystalline silicon solar cells equals or exceeds that obtained using other junction formation technologies on equivalent substrates. the author discusses performance and spectral response for 11.5 cm/sup 2/ devices made from various polycrystalline silicon substrates. the spectral response data show that while surface treatment can control junction properties, bulk transport properties put an upper limit on device performance, particularly the short circuit current
