at woolbeding farms a tastefully furnished office within a converted old barn controls the complete administration of five local farms totalling 1600 acres. the office uses a farmplan microcomputer system and nine software packages. the system comprises an apple ii 64k microcomputer and monitor, two 5-in. apple disc drives and an anadex dp-9500b 'silent scribe' dot-matrix printer. the system was installed to cope with an overnight increase of 1000 acres through acquisition. this called for a more intensive recording system. one of the software packages that runs on the system is 'farmtrack' a 3-part program for recording and analysing all dairy herd statistics. in addition to 'farmtrack' the farmplan system runs software for financial and payroll management, crop costing and beef fattening
