the objective of this program is to understand fundamental aspects of grain boundary influences on photocurrent collection and opposing current transport in polycrystalline silicon cells. results of the program are expected to aid in optimizing thin film polycrystalline silicon solar cells. three major tasks are addressed in this program, which includes a subcontract to the pennsylvania state university (penn state). these are: modeling, measurement technique development, and characterization and control of grain boundaries in polycrystalline silicon. progress is reported.
