permethrin, niclosamide, and edolan u pesticides were extracted from battle dress uniform (bdu) and wool materials and analyzed by gas chromatography (gc) in order to determine the recovery efficiency of these compounds from dyed materials using soxhlet extraction followed by gc analysis. permethrin and edolan u extraction and quantification were both simple and accurate when electron capture detection was used because dye interferences were eliminated. niclosamide analysis by gc was not possible due to the nonvolatility of the compound hydrolysis of niclosamide to form cna, which is quantifiable by gc, was conducted as an alternative to direct analysis, but recovery efficiencies were poor. unless hydrolysis and recovery efficiencies can be improved, procedures for quantification of niclosamide using gas chromatography cannot be adopted as a standard method
