the navy clothing and textile research facility conducted a 90-day evaluation of light and heavy weight prototype polyester-cotton blend shirts dyed coast guard blue 3362 at the u.s. coast guard base, pt allerton, hull, massachusetts, and aboard the u.s. coast guard cutter (uscgc) papaw (wlb-328) based at charleston, south carolina. the shirts were worn with the coast guard undress blue trousers as a work and undress uniform. the new uniforms were found to be more acceptable than the currently worn outfits. the light weight shirt was found to be more comfortable than heavier weight shirt in warmer climates such as charleston, in both summer and winter, and in hull during the summer
