an overview of the availability of linseed stalk in india is given. possibilities of extraction of fibre (known as flax) from the stalk of the dual-purpose linseed variety lck-152 and utilisation of the residual woody straws for production of pulp and paper have been explored. extraction of good quality flax fibre, suitable for production of singles yarn on ring and flyer spinning systems and three-ply twines has been successful. the residual woody straws were utilised for the preparation of good-quality pulp and paper.
