north personville field is located on the west flank of the east texas salt basin, near the town of groesbeck. the discovery well was drilled by mitchell energy corp. in 1969. during the field development phase, complexities of the reservoir made it necessary to combine core and log information in order to explain variability between log derived calculated pay and well performance. in 1983 a study was undertaken to address the variability of production within the field as related to the depositional-structural and diagenetic burial history of the cotton valley limestone. two cores and 70 well logs have been studied to determine stratigraphic trends. 5 refs
