the thermal decomposition of the humic acids of reed and cottongrass-sphagnum peats has been studied. the humic acids of high-moor peat are characterized by a lower thermal stability, which is shown in the formation of a larger amount of volatile products on dry distillation and a shift in the intervals of their evolution to the region of lower temperatures. conclusions of their structures have been drawn on the basis of differences in the behavior of the humic acids on thermal decomposition.
