fluidized-bed energy technology offers several unique characteristics for using biomass in small-scale energy conversion operations. this paper reports on a study undertaken to evaluate two fluidized-bed energy conversion methods using agricultural biomass - direct combustion and gasification. a 0. 61 meter diameter fluidized-bed combustion reactor was used for tests on direct combustion of cotton gin trash. a 0. 3 meter diameter fluidized-bed gasifier was used to convert raw gin trash into a combustible gas with bed temperatures between 683 $degree$ c and 881 $degree$ c experimental procedures, equipment, materials and results are discussed. 12 refs
