twelve compounds reported to have the ability to combine with formaldehyde and to retard or inhibit its release from resin-treated fabric were evaluated. one of these, carbohydrazide, demonstrated superior performance in lowering formaldehyde while minimizing effects on durable press performance. full-scale plant trails on both cotton and blend fabrics demonstrated a significant lowering of formaldehyde in the fabric by carbohydrazide. 5 refs,
