this volume contains three review papers which cover the following subjects $em dash$ (1) flame retardance of cotton and other naturally occurring cellulosic polymers; flammability and flame retardation of cotton-polyester blends; red phosphorus as a flame retardant. the authors discuss not only the mechanics of flame retardant action but also give details on the fireproofing of cotton and polyester-based textiles as well as of many polymers. particular attention is based on the use of red phosphorus as flame retardant on various textile and plastics applications. bibliographic citations appear at the end of each chapter
