an enclosed system was designed and evaluated for mixing and loading both liquid and dry pesticide concentrates without exposing the operator to harzardous materials. bioassays of cotton in greenhouse environments indicated two rinse cycles were adequate for removing the residue of 2,4-d pesticide/water mixtures from the experimental system. bioassays on soybean in greenhouse environments indicate there was minor but insignificant injury to plants sprayed with the third and fourth rinsate of a dicamba/water mixture bioassays on cotton and soybean plants sprayed in a field environment with the first, second, and third rinsates of a paraquat/water mixture failed to show any evidence of significant plant injury. the injury recorded in both environments was transient and would not affect the plant's yield potential.
