an examination is made of several different forms of contamination that are associated with wiping materials. an outline is also given of some testing methods that can be used to determine the level of cleanliness of currently available wiping products. the best performers in the organic-residue test were found to be products made of abaca and wood-fiber blends, which yielded very low levels of residue. cellulose blends yielded the next lowest levels, followed by celluloses and cottons. polyesters were found to extract a moderate amount of organic residue, with the other synthetic materials giving large amounts of organic contamination
