an alternate method of transporting modules long distances to the gin without pallets has been developed, with savings estimated at $3. 50 to $4. 00 per bale. this method utilizes flat bed trailer trucks in conjunction with loading and unloading pits to haul cotton modules distances greater than 32 kilometers in lieu of module transporter trucks. field pits are constructed which allow module transporters to load trailers and ease transport to gin. the gin receiving pit facilitates the use of a lummus module mover to unload the trailer
