in the reported experiments, the suitability of five different types of artificially solid fabrics to determine the cleaning effect was investigated. as a result of the finings, empa soiling of cotton and polyester/cotton is recommended for testing woolen laundering programs. the results of soilings from different sources can be compared by making use of a reference program. the effects of temperature and mechanics on felt shrinkage and cleaning effect were examined, using a large number of different woolen laundering programs. the relation between these two properties is discussed and suggestions are made for assessing the results for felt shrinkage and the cleaning effect. 4 refs. in german
