this paper describes the harvesting analysis simulation program (hasp) developed at texas tech university. the primary purpose of hasp is to provide an estimate of cotton harvest operation costs arising from the use of a specified set of equipment under specified conditions. harvesting and ginning operations are simulated on a daily basis and include changes in lint value and yield, harvesting activities, seed cotton storage, farm-to-gin transportation and ginning. cotton harvesting activities are modeled to obtain a simulation giving system performance and cost. the operation of an individual within a farm community is examined to provide information for decision on harvesting equipment and policy
