a 2-n morpholino ethyl methacrylate (mema) grafted polypropylene fabric was quaternized with different alkylating agents including dimethyl sulphate, allyl bromide, ethyl iodide, 1-iodohexane. dimethyl sulphate was the most reactive as 100 reaction completion was attained and the produced quaternary ammonium fabric was hydrophilic in nature with 7.6 moisture regain. the moisture regain varied with the percent grafted mema, and the type of alkylating agent used. a study of capacity, crystallinity, melting and decomposition temperatures was performed.
