with the objective of changing the chemical nature of the surface of aktilen, and increasing its uniformity and reducing its specific surface, we carried out a gas-phase synthesis of a pyrocarbon layer from methane in the isothermal zone of a quartz reactor at a temperature of 900 $degree$ c. the rate of formation of the pyrocarbon was 3.4 $center dot$ 10** $minus$ **4 g/sec. it has been found that the conditions for preparing carbon fibres, their structure, and the chemical nature of the surface exert an important effect on the process of enzyme adsorption and on its catalytic activity. the optimum character for immobilization of trypsin is either gralen or nonwoven carbon material. 8 refs
