target materials, 15 and 25 vol sic whisker-2124 aluminium composites, were machined by electrodischarge sinker machining (edm) and a diamond saw. the machined surfaces were examined by scanning electron microscopy (sem) and profilometry to determine the surface finish. microhardness measurements were also performed on the as-machined composites.
