advanced microcapsulation technology has led to the development of a series of latent-action systems for fast, simple, effective epoxy hardening, consisting essentially of microcapsules containing an anionic curing agent dispersed in a liquid epoxy carrier. with the latent hardener systems of the new hx series, the mixing can be done well in advance by either the epoxy formulator or the fabricator, as the mixed formulation is stable until raised to moderate curing temperatures. the microcapsule walls then rupture and release the curing agent into the surrounding epoxy resulting in fast, effective curing, good uniformity in cured resin quality and minimum waste. the wall thickness is several hundred angstroms and can be finely controlled during microcapsulation to provide the optimum wall strength for specific applications. all of the hx systems allow true one-pot formulation
