this paper concerns the delamination of some metal-skin panels - after exposure to sunlight and high temperatures; dark surfaces fared worse than light colors. the likeliest reason was the actual method of fabrication, for which further study and perhaps regulatory control should be welcomed, it is suggested. with a computer program, different factors can be studied and the risk of failures corrupted. we find that there are often such risks if we have areas with poor adhesion. that can come from spacers or from parts with no foam - 'ratholes' - or areas with bad adhesion due to unsuitable surface treatment, etc. 2 refs
