paecilomyces sp. c-2106 that possesses cephalosporin c (cpc) acylase activity capable of deacylating cpc to produce 7-amino cephalosporanic acid (7-aca) was isolated. the 7-aca production was identified by the antibacterial activity and spectrum of the activated compound, thin layer chromatography (tlc), high performance liquid chromatography (hplc), and inactivation with $beta$ -lactamase.
