requirements for antistats to ensure a long-term antistat effect for pan fiber which has been modified in the gel state are proposed. it is shown that surface modification of pan gel-fiber by the lc salts ensures an antistatic effect which is resistant to hand washing, a high moisture absorbing power on contact with moisture, and a soft hand, without impairing physico-mechanical properties retention of antistatic properties after hand washing and after dry-cleaning is ensured by modifiers which are difficultly soluble in water (the lc salts) and by modifiers which are difficultly soluble in dry-cleaning solvents (peg). in this connection, it is necessary to specify one of the requirements of an antistat in order to ensure long-term antistatic properties upon surface treatment of the gel fiber: the antistat should be difficultly soluble in the cleaning media (aqueous solutions of detergents and in the solvents which are used in dry-cleaning. 6 refs
