a synthetic artery graft is manufactured from polyetherurethane fibers (biomer). it is sufficiently porous to allow ingrowth of collagenous scar tissue. biomer has good enzyme resistance, good blood compatibility, and confers compliance to the prosthesis in both circumferential and axial directions. 16 refs
