the glucose microprobe described here is essentially a micro version of the macro probe. the starting material is the oxygen microprobe fabricated routinely in our laboratory. a 25- $mu$ m platinum wire is first etched electrolytically to a pencil shape the wire is then coated with glass excluding a few $mu$ m length at the tip. the exposed platinum tip is etched back to provide a space for enzyme immobilization. the glass coating of the microprobe is first treated with a 98, 3-aminopropyltriethoxy silane solution at room temperature for about an hour, washed with toluene, and treated with a 25 glutaraldehyde solution. 5 refs
