immobilization of urease onto poly(ethylene-co-vinyl alcohol) hollow fibers

urease was ionically bound to the poly(ethylene-co-vinyl alcohol) (eval) hollow fiber surface modified with two aminoacetals, 2-dimethylaminoacetoaldehyde dimethylacetal (aaa) and 3- $left bracket$ 3-(dimethylamino)propylamino $right bracket$ propionaldehyde dimethylacetal (apa). the surface modification, enzyme binding and enzyme reaction were carried out by running the respective solutions through the hollow fibers. the urease bound to apa-eval showed higher values of immobilization yield, activity yield and activity ratio than the enzyme immobilized to aaa-eval. various properties of urease immobilized to apa-eval were evaluated.
