it has already been demonstrated that the ability of flow section elements in hydroturbines to withstand damage depends not only on the corrosion-mechanical properties of the material used, but also on the physicochemical state of the metal in their surface layer that results from the methods and conditions of the finishing treatment used. the results are given here of investigations into how the hydroabrasive resistance of steel 06kh12n3d, which is widely used in hydroturbine construction, is affected by the quality of the surface layer after different methods and conditions of surface treatment (manual grinding with fiber, lobed and felt wheels with bonded abrasive, mechanical grinding with the face of a segmented and the periphery of a flat wheel, continuous grinding, hydro- and shot-blasting). 6 refs
