basic research on the chemistry of cotton is discussed with linkage to practical problems in chemical finishing. the need for new methodologies in this research is stressed. migration on finishing agents is shown to occur in a predictable manner; ie. , laterally during slow drying, thicknesswise during rapid drying plus superimposed translocation between warp and fill. uniform distributions of agent in fabric are discussed with associated fabric performances.
