this paper describes the glass mat-reinforced thermoplastics sheets, based on polypropylene, that are produced in switzerland these materials are used in automobiles. mechanical, physical and processing properties are tabulated and evaluated. automobile parts made of gmt are illustrated by photo. this material is particularty suitable for mass production of light parts with good mechanical properties. surface finishing and bonding techniques are also briefly described. in german
