although syndite pcd (polycrystalline diamond) tools are widely used in industry not only for the turning, boring and milling of non-ferrous metals but also for the machining of highly abrasive non-metallics such as fiber reinforced plastics (frp) and laminates, there is little published data on tool-related workpiece quality criteria. in this report the authors investigate the effects of machining parameters on surface finish, cutting forces, and temperatures, for three commercially available plastics composite materials.
