cellulose fiber, a versatile and renewable natural resource, has potential use as a reinforcement for polymers. this thesis deals with the preparation of cellulose-polymer composites and their properties, paying most attention to the effects of interfacial adhesion. cellulose fibers introduced into the liquid reactant of the nylon system for reaction injection molding (rim) caused an increase of viscosity, allowing only short fibers and rather limited fiber loadings to be used. the composites based on cellulose had increased stiffness which was improved further when better adhesion was obtained by using surface treated fibers. 103 refs
