in a composite material the chemical structure of a fiber surface is influencing the adhesion between carbon fiber and matrix resin. the quantity of oxidic groups, fixed on the fiber surface, is a governing factor. surface examinations of commercial carbon fibers and research into sizings are giving first informations about the sizing structure and were showing simultaneously a method for a further adhesion improvement with an electrochemical modification of the sized fiber surface. 5 refs. in german
