wool samples from five crossbreeds, three 'true wool' and two 'hair' breeds, were scoured and evaluated on the basis of fineness, moisture regain, dye absorption, tensile strength, and felting propensity. results were analyzed to determine differences in properties due to year of birth, breed, and fleece location. year of birth was not a significant factor for any property. breed type (true wool or hair) was found to be significant for fineness and felting properties. location was a significant consideration for four of the five properties: fineness, moisture regain, dye absorption, and tensile strength.
