a method of using wastes, especially nontextile wastes, is to modify man-made fibers by mixing solutions of these in a common solvent during the process of preparing the spinning solution. this method of utilizing nontextile wastes for the modification of man-made fibers by spinning them from polymer mixtures may find wide application in the manufacture of nitron fiber. the effect of these wastes (modifiers) on nitron fiber structure formation and properties is particularly effective in spinning by the wet method, where a high plasticized stretch is realized. the use of nontextile wastes from natural silk to modify nitron fiber when they are introduced in the spinning solution gives nitron hygroscopicity, and improves its dyeability and electrical conductivity is of particular interest checking the results of experimental and laboratory tests and scaling them up requires the development of a pilot-plant unit. 2 refs
