a distributed parameter model of the mechanical response for the otolith organs has been recently published. this model includes a viscoeleastic gel layer which introduces additional damping and grater stiffness. these additions produce results which limit the otoconial layer deflection and match expected performance. the nondimensionalized governing equations consist of three partial differential equaitions describing respectively the endolymph fluid, gel layer, and octconial layer motion with respect to the skull. this set of equations can be laplace transformed to produce a transfer function for the otoconial layer
