prolonged action of a plant dust mixture consisting of jute, flax and kenaf is one of the causes of the occurrence of byssinosis which has no effect on the working ability of the patients. in contrast to byssinosis caused by cotton and flax dust, where the leading symptoms are 'monday morning syndrome' and 'end of work week syndrome', the byssinosis symptoms developing under the action of jute, flax and kenaf occur more often (59.1) during intense dust formation in the mill ('high dust concentration syndrome'). the favorable effect occurring during a pharmacological test with salbutamol in apparently healthy workers attests to the presence in these workers of a latent bronchospasm, which makes it possible to categorize this group as being at risk of developing byssinosis. 9 refs. in russian
