the required improvements to the light helicopter fleet are about to be satisfied through the army's number one program - the lhx. this is the challenge to industry. the first team, having been established and working for over three years, has willingly, aggressively, and professionally accepted the challenge - the demonstration/validation phase of the lhx program. the first team will validate its air vehicle and mission equipment package (mep) designs through a high resolution, advanced development simulation program. using computer-generated imagery, the battlefield scenario simulation correlates the future airland battle mission scenario with the lhx design. army aviators will validate their ability to perform the mission. the first team simulation will measure the aviator workloads to design the mep to reduce workload demands to the lowest possible level. the simulation concept will incorporate the effects of skill level, fatigue, and task demands and, through the continuous feedback loop of the simulation, establish an appropriate mep and cockpit design
