this paper describes the preparation and some important properties of microcrystalline cellulose prepared from bleached bagasse pulp. the starting bagasse pulp contained cellulose: 76. 3, lignin: 0. 18 and ash: 0. 79. after bleaching, the cellulose content increased to 85. the mcc obtained was analyzed and the results are given. the results show that bagasse pulp can be a source for the preparation of microcrystalline cellulose. the preparation of mcc from cotton stalk pulp is being investigated. 2 refs
