the importance of maintaining and accurately assessing the quality of raw cotton is discussed: three major aspects that influence a spinner's choice of raw materials are: quality of yarn that can be made from the cotton; magnitude of weight losses during processing; how efficiently cotton can be processed and adaptability to new processing systems. fiber properties have a very large influence on these three aspects. the author suggest further steps to be taken in measuring cotton fiber properties
