a process for the production of fire-retardant board from cottonseed hulls using phosphine as fire-retardant material has been reported. boards made from cotton seed hulls contained different concentrations (0-15) of the fire-retardant. various properties like duration of flaming, after-glow, percentage loss in weight, charred length and charred area were studied along with mechanical and physical properties. an improvement in water resistance and flame proof properties with different concentrations of the fire-retardant was observed, whereas bending strength showed gradual decrease with increased concentrations of fire-retardant.
