recently new compounds from group of synthetic pyrethroides, named as third generation of insecticides, have been developed for chemical protection of plants. short description of the compounds properties is given. their advantages are high efficiency, fast biodegradation, low toxicity for homeothermal organisms and much smaller doses being applied per hectar in comparison with known insecticides. in the beginning pyrethroides were applied for cotton protection and later their application was extended on crop, forest, vegetable and fruit cultures for protection. some pyrethroides, were applied on a large scale in poland for potato beetle control. in polish
