the change in degree of polymerization, loss in weight, and buildup of carbonyl and carboxyl groups have been investigated in boiling, bleaching, and washing ordinary viscose fiber, siblon high-modulus fiber, and cotton. it has been found that siblon high-modulus viscose fiber is preferable for blends with cotton with respect to resistance to degradation. 4 refs
