a method for the preparation of plastic grade cellulose acetate from jute stick, a cheap and readily available agro-waste, has been described. the yield is 43. 5 on the dry weight of jute stick. the d. p. of the product is lower and the cost a little higher than the product from cotton linters, but these are comparable with the product from wood chip. 16 refs
