even though severe difficulties with crystallographic disorder have made it impossible for the authors to obtain complete or accurate structures for $left bracket$ v//2cl//3(thf)//6 $right bracket$ $left bracket$ alcl//2r//2 $right bracket$ compounds, the presence of the dinuclear cation, very similar to that in $left bracket$ v//2cl//3(thf)//6 $right bracket$ //2 $left bracket$ zn//2cl//6 $right bracket$ , was established and there are other physical data to show that it is the same species in all compounds the appearance of strong, double, spin-flip transitions in all of the visible spectra is also evidence for strong antiferromagnetic interaction between pairs of s $equals$ 3/2 v**i**i ions. 13 refs
